Candy Pearl Mulberry Genie Bottles
Classification: Custom Paint Level I (Less Than $800 USD)
These antique Jim Bean liquor bottles were used to recreate the genie bottle prop from the popular 60's/70's television show I Dream of Jeannie. This project required an exact color match and specific pearl reflective properties to make the bottles as close as possible to the original show props. The color needed to be matched with Pantone 248 C or Prismacolor Mulberry, which is a vibrant mauve/fuscia color.
The color itself was not as difficult to match as the wanted pearl properties, which was to have a violet highlight as well as the pearl iridescence in the mulberry base. After many samples, it was determined that a macropearl combined with metallic silver pearl and interference blue micropearl created the desired effects underneath the custom candy mulberry mix. The paint required a 6-stage process as opposed to a standard 3-stage pearl process.
